ABOUT US:

Amerikitties is a very, small in-home cattery nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains.  We actually sit right at the foot of Pikes Peak, here in Colorado Springs.  We have been at this location for over 20 years and love it here.  We have herds of deer sauntering through our yard on a daily basis.  Occasionally, we see
fox, black bear, coyote, raccoon and bobcat.  America truly is beautiful.

Our cats are my loves.  To me, to say "cat" is to say "Persian".  I love their peaceful demeanor and sweet expression.  When I was a little girl, I loved "long haired"
cats and as I grew up, that equated to the beautiful, good-natured Persian breed.  I also have Himalayan and Exotic-short haired Persians.  These are both hybrid
Persians.  The Himalayan is the traditional Persian crossed with the Siamese cat to produce the blue eyes and colored points.
The  Exotic short-haired Persian is the Persian cat crossed with the American
short-hair to produce the thick plush coat, while keeping the characters of the traditional Persian.  The Exotic tends to be a slightly huskier cat while the Himalayan
tends to be somewhat larger, in general, than the Persian.  All of my cats are my personal pets and receive love and attention throughout every day.

I have been married to my best friend for over 30 years.  He helps me with all my cat/kitten matters.  He helps me with flying my kittens here and there, takes pictures or cleans litter boxes.
He's the greatest.  We are blessed to have 4 wonderful adult children and 6 GRAND-girls and 2 GRAND-boys.  Our lives are very full but we each have our hobbies which we enjoy and to which we give some of our time.  Mine is my kitties and my husband's is tennis.  We also enjoy sharing in each others hobbies.

My other passion is for this great country.  Maybe because I was born on the 4th of July!  I try to do what I can to maintain our country's standard, in keeping with what our
Founding Father's intended.  I am willing to make any small improvement where necessary or possible.  I work as an election judge and am a delegate to my party.  So
it is not surprising that my cattery took on its patriotic theme.  Our country isn't perfect but I am thankful to be an American!
